About The Room & Sarah Walker, Founder
At The Room, we believe everyone deserves to love who they are and share that love with others. But how can you do that if you don’t even like yourself? That’s why Sarah Walker created The Room, a Clothing Brand designed to give everyone the chance to fall in love with themselves with comfortable gender-neutral clothing.
Sarah's Story
As a service member and transgender woman in business, Sarah knows what it’s like to experience conflict between personal and professional lives. Whether you’re LGBTQIA+ or not, it’s important to build an inclusive space that reflects our modern society while taking into account how customers are changing. That’s why The Room was created. Gender-neutral clothing doesn’t have to be dull. We hope our products will make you feel more confident about your appearance—and encourage other brands to follow suit. It all starts with making room for everyone at any table.
Facing challenges
Gender-neutral clothing has been gaining popularity recently in response to a growing number of LGBTQIA+ individuals who struggle to find clothing options that fit their gender identity. Clothing brand The Room, designed by founder Sarah Walker and launched in April 2019, addresses a serious gap in an overlooked market. Its pieces are carefully curated and inspired by the confidence you get from knowing you look good—making them accessible to a wide range of individuals regardless of gender identity.
Her approach to leadership
Sarah is an inspiration to people all over because of her role as a transwoman. There are not many out there doing what Sarah is doing and She hopes to change that. People think it's hard being yourself but She want's to show them how easy it can be to do what you love. You don't have to be perfect or rich or beautiful. You just have to put your mind into something, especially in entrepreneurship and work hard enough for what you want.
"In my opinion everyone is worth it because we all make mistakes but those mistakes teach us how important our choices are and how powerful they are in defining who we are." - Sarah Walker, Founder

My approach to leadership and mentorship is simple - if you have a vision and you're willing to work for it then I'll support you. I believe in working your way up from nothing. You have to prove yourself with results - you have to be willing to work your way up by putting others first. - Sarah Walker, Founder
